Hilary Duff apologises over offensive halloween costume
![]() |
The Lizzie Maguire star attended the Casamigos Halloween Party on Friday in Beverly Hills with her boyf Jason Walsh.
Whilst Hilary opted to dress as a pilgrim in a short black outfit, trainer Jason dressed as a Native American complete with a feather headdress and face paint. Erm, cultural appropriation anyone?
Many tweeters labelled their costume choices as "ignorant'", "racist" and "offensive".
Duff apologised to her fans, claiming she hadn't "properly thought through" her poor halloween get-up.
Her partner also took to Instagram to clear his name.I am SO sorry to people I offended with my costume. It was not properly thought through and I am truly, from the bottom of my ❤️sorry.— Hilary Duff (@HilaryDuff) October 30, 2016
So we don't think Hilary wanted to offend anyone on purpose, but as a women in the heavy spotlight of the media you'd surely twig that this wasn't the best idea in the world? It's time we all started using our brains and realising that dressing up as other cultures is NOT appropriate. Where are the days of the zombies and witches anyway, isn't Halloween supposed to be scary?
Regardless of what we think, we know Duff woke up on Saturday regretting more than just the sambuca shots from the night before.
