When will Hollywood stop remaking classic movies?

Hollywood has decided to remake Dirty Dancing - possibly the best romance film ever made, to celebrate its 30th anniversary. I don't think I even have to tell you that this is a bad decision, you already know that. Why couldn't we just celebrate by watching the original movie again?

There's nothing we can do about it, it's happening whether we like it or not and now we just have to sit back and watch as another classic film is recreated.

There are exceptions to remakes, Jurassic World created a new modern storyline with enthralling realistic CGI dinosaurs. The same applies for King Kong, with the use of incredible technology the classic movie was recreated into a captivating and exciting adventure drama. Can you really improve Dirty Dancing? I don't think so.

ABC did say that the film wouldn't be a total copy, with added story lines that tackle social topics such as race and women's rights. It seems like a big task, especially when the film somehow needs to pay homage to the original Dirty Dancing.

Abigail Beslin will play Baby and Colt Prattes (who?) will play Johnny, originally played by Patrick Swayze. The promo video showed the actors recreating iconic scenes, including the lift in the water and Johnny saying "nobody puts baby in the corner."

Seriously, why does Hollywood insist of regurgitating already amazing films. Nobody asked for these recycled films. Stop.
