Are American designers refusing to dress Melania Trump?
This might seem a little bit irrelevant given the bigger picture of Trump's election but this is regarding Melania Trump and fashion - something which seems to prop up quite a lot.

During the campaign, Hilary Clinton was kind of "endorsed" and supported by a wide range, if not all, of the American fashion designers and fashion influencers such as Vogue's Anna Wintour, it almost seemed like the entire fashion industry was backing Clinton. The question now is "will these fashion designers dress any of the Trump women?"
Well, Sophie Theallet might have got the ball rolling, Theallet is a French fashion designer who has previously dressed the First Lady Michelle Obama, posted an open letter saying that quite simply she did not care if she was offending Trump supporters, but she would never, ever agree to dress Melania. Theallet said that her label aims to promote diversity and she could not, in good conscience, dress a Trump woman after Donald Trump's hurtful and racist comments.
Although, Theallet may be the first designer to publish an open statement and make her position in politics known, she probably hasn't been the only industry insider who hasn't been supporting or dressing the Trumps. This would probably explain why they always seem to be wearing Ivanka's own brand a lot and Ivanka has strangely been promoting her fashion line. People Magazine also stated a source had said that "there was a lot of shopping their own closets" meaning they bought a lot of the clothes they wear, themselves.

Personally, I think fashion designers, even if they do or don't support Trump's policies or comments, will still dress the Trump ladies. After all, this is fashion and they run a business, dressing Melania will be a massive promotion for their clothes and in a way dressing Melania is basically dressing the lady who represents the United States for four years or maybe eight years.
Either way, I don't think fashion can normalise hateful politics, and quite frankly what clothes Melania and Ivanka wear are the least of our worries.
