The Grammy Trump dress, was it just a publicity stunt?
Joy Villa rocked up to the Grammys originally in a white dress, to only then reveal an American flag designed dress with the words 'Make America Great Again' and 'Trump' printed on it. But does the singer really like Trump or was it just used as chance to gain publicity?
WDN reported that Villa saw her sales surpass 18 million per cent in just one day after she wore the controversial dress. Her album "I Make the Static" jumped to number one on the American iTunes sales chart. Before the stunt her album was sitting at number 543,202.
The main speculation regarding the dress derives from her past social media posts. Villa has tweeted calling Trump a crazy candidate, shared an article which alleged that Donald Trump's people Photoshop a white model to look black, not to mention a seemingly pro Bernie tweet too, perhaps proving that this whole dress thing was just a stunt.
I think it was a publicity stunt, and a great one at that. I had no idea who she was but now I am sat here writing an article about her, quite frankly, ugly dress. Although the Grammys might have been filled with subtle political messages throughout, Joy Villa took it a step too far, begging the question as to where her integrity is?
We might never know who Villa truly supported but to turn up to the Grammys in such an outrageous political dress, just what is the point? Was she trying to divide the awards like America isn't divided enough already, I for one want to forget about Trump for just one night and look at all the pretty clothes on the red carpet. The way I see it is, she had been to the Grammys how many times? Every time wearing something more ridiculous than the last and the mass amount of people still didn't know who she was. This time her silly publicity stunt really worked out for her, now she just needs to keep up the act that she loves Trump and supports his policies. Well done Villa, you really showed us, I can't wait to see what attention seeking ensemble you'll turn up in next year.

If you don't like the two crazy candidates running, write in or vote for the OTHER 3 on the ballot! Don't dismiss... https://t.co/KjtjU7AOQj— Joy Villa (@Joy_Villa) 8 November 2016
Donald Trump's campaign almost definitely photoshopped a merchandise model to look black https://t.co/lLyJ736Sce # via blackvoices— Joy Villa (@Joy_Villa) 5 March 2016
Now obviously, agree with Trump or disagree, we have to respect everybody's right to vote, their freedom of speech and individual opinion, Villa very well might have changed her mind since posting those tweets and decided Trump was the nominee that she preferred, but did anybody turn up to the Grammys with Hilary Clinton's face plastered on their skirt? Or a blazer with a Bernie Sander's quote embroidered into the back? Villa's dress is SO extra which is a reoccurring theme with her Grammy outfits.I NEED ONE!!! #FeelTheBern https://t.co/RIlZvuNorU— Joy Villa (@Joy_Villa) 23 February 2016
